Our 3rd grade students are leading the effort to collect items to make Christmas Gift Boxes for our community. Please read below:
OPERATION CHRISTMAS BOXES – Deadline for Donations: Friday, December 9th
It has been a holiday tradition for Hazelwood Elementary students and staff to collect items for Christmas boxes for the elderly in our community. We believe this project is a wonderful way to show the spirit of giving and caring. There are many elderly residents in Haywood County who need our help to ensure they have a wonderful Christmas this year. Each classroom will have boxes available where your child may put items they bring. Listed below are some suggested items:
- Canned goods with pop top lids
- Liquid dish detergent
- Toilet paper (4 pack)
- Batteries
- Socks (both men and women)
- Nail files or clippers
- Candy
- Bars of soap (or liquid hand soap)
- Small blankets or throws
- Pens and notepads
- Postage stamps
- Hand and body lotion
- Flashlight
- Paper towels
- Light bulbs
- Toothpaste and toothbrush
- Shampoo and conditioner
- Gloves
- Magazines
- Snacks – crackers, cookies, popcorn, hot chocolate mix, etc.
- Instant oatmeal and grits
- Combs or brushes
- Wet Ones or Clorox Wipes
